The JR is modern, clean and bright and the service good. Improvements to the experience could be made as follows: Parking - Ignore the political rhetoric and nonsense people will, for the foreseeable future at least, drive to hospitals so please start providing adequate space to park. That said, I did eventually get a slot - having allowed an extra 30mins in case - and the charges weren't outlandish, especially if you get in and out in 45mins (it's then free). Signage and directions - A common problem in NHS establishments but the signage is as cryptic and intermittent as ever. It may work if you are a medical professional but trying to decipher the departmental titles and where departments actually start and finish is as bad at the JR as elsewhere. Not helped by the fact there seems to be nobody in the main reception areas that I visited that believed it was their job to assist obviously lost patients. On one occasion I had to convince a member of (non-clinical) staff to give me directions, which he did reluctantly after a long explanation as to why, despite being the only employee in the reception area, he was really supposed to be on a break and therefore shouldn't be talking to me. Do people and places like this really still exist?

My first impression was terrible. The waiting area was filthy and overflowing into adjoining corridors, people were sitting on the floor because all the seating was taken. My appointment took 3 months from the time the doctor requested it, then it was postponed a month. The consulting rooms are very tired looking and need decorating/ renovating. I complained and the waiting area was clean, not crowded and has maintained it's improvement. I think everyone involved deserves a big pat on the back, well done.

My mother recently had a Hysteroscopy at the JR. She is elderly and has Parkinson's disease so the experience was potentially a very traumatic one for her. The nursing staff were wonderful with her both at the Pre-op appointment and on the day of the operation. The surgeon came and explained everything very clearly. She stayed in for 2 nights so the staff could be sure she was ready to go home. Thank you for looking after her.

I had an outpatients appointment at the JR yesterday. While I saw the consultant promptly, I had to wait three hours for an ultrasound, without information, explanation or an apology. Every time I visit the JR, I am struck by how staff time is treated as more valuable than my own. It is a true pity that the exceedingly poor management overshadows the high quality of care provided. I would never recommend the JR to anyone were choice available. Incidentally, the toilets in the Blue Outpatients area were also filthy and covered in urine.

My son visited the A & E Department for a throat injury. After a 1 1/2hr wait he was seen by a very professional team of doctors who decided on an overnight stay for monitoring. The assessment room despite being 8 years old was spotless. He was quickly found a room with 2 other occupants. Once again the room was very clean and modern looking. The Doctors explained his condition and treatment well. Overall he was well looked after in a clean environment. He commented that the food was good too.

My father spent 2 days in an observation ward with no TV/Radio or magazine/newspaper rounds with staff who ignored my fathers requests for pain management for 4+ hours and then prescribed an off the shelf tablet which his GP has banned him from using due to side effects... even though we repeatedly told them of the issue Then spent a further two days in the male short stay ward again without entertainment or any hospital rounds for newsppaers etc. basically just poor environment and patient care. It all felt as though it was an interuption in the staffs working day rather than the reason they are at work.

Excellent clinical care but administration dreadful after been seen in clinic on the 12th June 2013 my Doctor did not receive the letter pertaining to this appointment till 29th JULY 2013 in the meantime things had progressed I was then admitted to hospital on the 23rd June because I should have had a day unit appointment but this arrived after the date I should of been there. Following this I was discharged 27th June and was told of a referral to the Royal Marsden was needed it has taken me several e-mails and a telephone call to make sure this has happened on 19th August
